We love Johnny here. It was important to a child either neglected or even abused to believe there were relationships out there that were healthy, respectful and full of love, even if they were fiction and of another era. The relationship portrayed on The Rifleman will always be a solid example of how a father-son relationship should be. All these years later and yet our eyes still moisten at the poignant episodes from 60 years ago. Johnny played the role of Mark McCain with such natural innocence that I was never once envious or jealous. Requiescat in Pace Pardner.
