There is no greater Blessing for an artist than to know his/her work will go on entertaining and motivating others. I, like I'm sure so many others continue to watch "The Rifleman," and so does my youngest teenage son ... so Johnny's performance continues to entertain and motivate even the younger generation.
RIP Johnny. This world is a lesser place without you in it.... Collapse
Lovely posts, especially your poem Norma... Collapse
The sun is setting over North Fork. The streets are empty and all is quiet at the McCain Ranch. The fire is out in the fireplace and the barn door is shut. Mark gathered up some of his favorite belongingsโฆhis guitar, his trusty lasso and Paโs Bible. He is saddling up Blue Boy one final time. Mark can now join former residents of North Fork and Johnny can join his parents, Chuck and former Mouseketeers and actors in taking a final bow.
And Chuck is greeting Johnny and sayingโฆโHeaven is a new and mighty fine placeโ...knowing it was hard for Johnny to leave everything behind. Then Chuck gently reminded Johnny there โwas no lookinโ back, weโve come too far.โ โI wasnโt really lookinโโ backโ Johnny explained...โjust remembering backโ. It was then Chuck stopped for a moment and allowed Johnny to remember, but only after a moment said ...โwhat do you say we enter Heaven from here?โ And Johnny replied โfineโ (From Sharpshooter)
Now Johnny with his guitar can play a round of โGhost Riders in the Skyโ with Glen Campbell and Roy Clark.
And Johnny is riding โTwo Bitsโ one dark and windy day
Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way
When all at once a mighty herd of red-eyed cows he saw
A plowinโ through the ragged skies and up a cloudy draw
The Cowboys eyes were blurred, and shirts all soaked with sweat
Theyโre ridinโ hard to catch that herd but they ainโt caught them yet
Theyโve got to ride forever in that range up in the sky
On horses snortinโ fire, as they ride on, hear their cry.
Yi-pi-yi-ay Yi-pi-yi-o Ghost riders in the Sky
Ride on Johnnyโฆ.ride on.โฆThanks for the Memories!... Collapse
